Operations Supervisor (Afternoon, Gateway)

FedEx is seeking a driven and people-focused Operations Supervisor to lead our Adelaide afternoon operation at our state-of-the-art facility in Netley. This is an opportunity to influence performance, embed a strong safety culture, and deliver operational excellence within a global logistics leader.

About the Role

As the Operations Supervisor, you will lead a high-performing operational team during the afternoon shift, ensuring service excellence and continuous improvement across the depot. You will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of operations while developing and empowering your people to perform at their best.

This is a hands-on leadership role with accountability across:

  • Team leadership, engagement & development
  • Depot operations and service delivery
  • Safety, compliance & industrial relations practices
  • Process optimisation & continuous improvement
  • Resource planning, reporting & cost control
  • Customer service excellence

You will work closely with peers and leaders to drive a customer-focused culture and implement improvement initiatives that enhance service quality while maintaining cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and empower employees through open communication, strong leadership, regular performance feedback, and team-building
  • Drive employee engagement, productivity, and customer satisfaction
  • Analyse daily operational performance and take action to achieve targets for service quality, loss and damage, and cost efficiency
  • Establish and maintain a customer-focused culture that supports satisfaction, loyalty, and retention
  • Utilise standard tools and methods for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, performance measurement, and resource control
  • Champion continuous improvement and share best-practice initiatives
  • Initiate and implement optimisation programs to improve efficiency and reduce unit costs

The Successful Applicant Will Have / Be

We are seeking an experienced operational leader with:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a transport, logistics, or operational environment
  • 3–5 years’ people management experience, ideally in an operations-led role
  • Strong knowledge of operational processes, optimisation methodologies, and related technologies
  • Demonstrated success in continuous improvement and process optimisation
  • A proactive, can-do mindset with the ability to translate concepts into action
  • Strong communication skills, with experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Proven capability in training, coaching, and developing teams and future leaders
