PGH Transportation Advisor
Description
The PGH Transportation Advisor will support the FEC Transportation Network on a broad range of high-level, cross departmental initiatives and special projects. Help to create and maintain a collaborative organization culture while continually promoting, supporting, and developing excellence across Transportation with peer advisors. Interpret information and analyze the relationship among various components of a problem or situation to clearly articulate findings and anticipate potential next steps. Design, develop, and implement innovation solutions, tools, and executive ready materials that concisely articulate the desired message.
Essential Functions
Participate in defining FEC Purchased Transportation strategic initiatives.
Establish strong relationship with individuals across different areas of the business.
Monitor and evaluate performance data, prepare deliverables, and facilitate meetings with Transportation leadership.
Provide presentations and data to support recommendations.
Support, coach, or mentor less senior staff.
Ensures SMEs across all projects are trained, aligned, and focused on like priorities.
Advises cross opco teams on strategies relating to rail, purchased transportation, and contracting to ensure
FEC requirements including service and performance goals are met.
Serves as business advisor of modernization across transportation departments.
Collaborates with Field and PGH advisors to ensure communication of priorities, key data metrics, and strategic messaging are clear and consistent among Transportation MD and Manager groups
Influences the direction of Transportation through concise and data driven recommendations
Collaborates with various departments on Linehaul network enhancements (e.g., Hub & Outbound, engineering, Information Technology (IT), Maintenance and Safety, University, Finance to help drive efficiencies and make strategic operational decisions.
Develops, analyzes, and interprets operating metrics to all levels of field management and specialists to further business objectives.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Logistics, or a related field required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.
Minimum Experience
Eight (8) years experience required in linehaul operations, transportation industry, or related area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information.
Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.
Ability to effectively provide instruction on process and practice within the department.
Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.
Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations.
Knowledge of DOT regulations required and knowledge of transportation management system
Job Conditions
Extensive travel required.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
Pay: (FEC_E28) Pittsburgh, PA Pay Range: $8,896.99/month - $15,124.88/month
Additional Details: Department: Transportation Logistics. This position is domiciled in Pittsburgh, PA. Remote candidates will not be considered.
