Description

Under limited supervision, this individual is responsible for leading the development and execution of commercial transportation product and portfolio strategies, taking into account the transportation product lifecycle, delivery economics, and the end-to-end customer experience. This role focuses on managing, developing, and executing marketing, commercial positioning, and operational alignment activities to achieve target business outcomes for our physical transportation, same-day delivery, and alternate delivery products.

The successful candidate will evaluate market, economic, and competitive factors affecting transportation product line performance and must demonstrate a strong ability to perform fact-based data analysis, analyze Voice of the Customer (VoC) inputs, and interpret financial metrics to identify critical business insights.

Essential Functions

  • Commercial Product Execution & Growth: Translates customer insights and Voice of the Customer (VoC) findings into targeted marketing, sales, and commercial positioning strategies to drive volume and revenue growth across our transportation product lines.
  • Voice of the Customer (VoC) & Insights: Designs and leads structured qualitative and quantitative VoC initiatives (such as customer journey mapping, shipper/recipient surveys, and operational feedback loops) to deeply understand delivery expectations, convenience drivers, and friction points.
  • Economic & Market Evaluation: Independently leads market, economic, and competitive evaluations to assess transportation product performance, with a specific focus on understanding and optimizing physical transportation cost structures.
  • Advanced Data Analysis: Conducts rigorous, fact-based data analysis and interpretation to uncover business insights. Designs and works with advanced financial and operational data models to evaluate same day and alternate delivery models and pricing strategies.
  • Product Roadmap & Enhancements: Identifies, defines, and prioritizes new physical delivery product offerings, geographic expansions, and operational network enhancements. Conducts market feasibility studies, builds business cases, and drives final prioritization.
  • Cross-Functional Initiatives: Leads and executes complex commercial product launches and logistics initiatives across large, cross-functional teams, serving as the commercial and marketing lead.
  • Mentorship: Actively coaches, mentors, and supports team members in less senior positions within the commercial business team.
  • Other Duties: Performs other business-related duties as assigned.

 


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Delivery Economics: Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to quickly master the delivery cost structures, resource constraints, and operational dynamics of various same-day delivery, courier networks, and alternate delivery models.
  • Customer-Centric Strategy: Proven experience leveraging Voice of the Customer (VoC) data to define profitable commercial product strategies, with a passion for designing physical delivery solutions that resolve customer pain points.
  • Industry Experience: Direct experience in same-day delivery operations, transport logistics, courier network design, or working for a physical courier service provider.

Location details:

This position will be hybrid in Memphis, TN or Pittsburgh, PA and candidates must live within a 50 mile radius. This position is hybrid, employees will be required to work at a FedEx Campus several times per week.


Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree/equivalent in product marketing, economics, business, or related field.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years work experience in functions focused on product management, market analysis or research, or equivalent.

More advanced degrees may offset experience requirements. A related Master’s Degree equals two (2) years experience.

Superior knowledge of competitive, market and economic factors affecting product performance and ability to perform fact based data analysis.

Expert communication and presentation skills, quantitative, problem structuring and solving skills.

Superior executive presence, human relations, networking and influencing skills.

Strong project management and project management leadership experience.

Pay: Memphis range: $7,488.36/mo - $12,355.79/mo; Pittsburgh range: $7,882.48/mo - $13,006.09/mo
