Assoc Eng/Mechanical

To assist in providing preliminary, critical, and final engineering design for the department. Facility development including sort buildings and material handling systems, associated equipment and systems from planning through construction. To provide engineering support to the project management group and corporate divisions as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry level up to two (2) Years related experience in the design, layout, and installation of sort systems and material handling equipment, systems, and components preferred. knowledge of conveyor belt and conveying equipment as it pertains to freight handling or bulk material handling preferred. Strong analytical and communication skills. BSME required, FE preferred (passed the fundamentals of engineering exam)

Essential Functions

  • Provide preliminary and final engineering design for the department including sort buildings and material handling systems, associate equipment and systems from planning through construction
  • To provide engineering and support to the project management group and corporate divisions as required.
  • Mechanical design of material handling and/or sorting systems and equipment.
  • Manage external design firms, sort integrators, and/or contractors for mechanical design and installation of material handling and sort systems projects
  • Lead project team member on material handling and sort system projects to ensure specifications/deliverables are met and project objectives are accomplished
  • Successfully produced mechanical designs, specifications, and bid documents for sort systems up to 3K capacity
  • Qualified to provide technical support for mechanical equipment issues and evaluate the quality of installed sort systems.
  • Strong analytical Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Punch listing mechanical sort systems installation
  • Develop and/or ensure sort mechanical project documentation is delivered
  • Ensure safety and reliability for mechanical material handling and sort systems/equipment
  • Provide sort mechanical support after project start up
  • Assist with research and development of material handling and sort systems/equipment
  • Develop project and bid manuals for sort system projects (Design, Build, Design/Build), RFP’s, etc.
  • Perform Preliminary, critical, and final design concept reviews
  • Perform Preliminary, critical, and final material handling and sort system mechanical drawing reviews
  • Assist with evaluating new sort technologies, equipment, and/or systems
  • Seek and evaluate cost savings opportunities
  • Assist with redesign/modernize standard mechanical sort components, details, drawings, and/or equipment
  • Maintain mechanical sort systems specifications (review, revision)
  • Maintain mechanical sort system standards, standard drawings, and standard details
  • Provide mechanical sort design support/assistance, troubleshooting, and problem solving for all Air (Legacy Express) locations and personnel
  • Assist with developing new material handling and sort systems equipment/systems solutions to address/resolve challenges
  • Travel required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Eng/Mechanical Eng

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Sr. Eng/Mechanical Eng

To Lead multiple projects simultaneously, including the evaluation and implementation of manpower and systems projects designed to reduce operating and expenses, increase revenues and enhance customer service. to lead the development and implementation of Operating Plans and To Perform Engineering Work, conducting studies, preparing data and developing models and Analytical tools for use by engineers and Operations. Set strategy which leads to the transformation of business processes and operational tools to enable global excellence.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) Yearsrelated Experience in Design, layout, And Installation of material handling systems and components. Knowledge Of belt conveyor and conveying equipment as it pertains to freight handling or bulk material handling. BSME required, FE Preferred (passed the fundamentals of engineering Exam) strong analytical, computer and communication ckills.

  • Lead project team member on material handling and sort system projects to ensure specifications/deliverables are met and project objectives are accomplished
  • Successfully produced mechanical designs, specifications, and bid documents for sorting systems with greater than 6K capacity.
  • Qualified to provide technical support for mechanical equipment issues, evaluate the quality of installed sort systems, maintain design specifications, evaluate, and develop new sort equipment for use in FedEx Sort Systems

  • Develop and/or ensure sort mechanical project documentation is delivered

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential.  The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: U.S. Pay Range Monthly: Memphis, TN: Assoc Eng/Mechanical: $4,972.60 - $6,464.38 | Eng/Mechanical Eng: $ 6,237.63 - $8,108.92 | Sr. Eng/Mech Eng: $6,854.33 - $9,081.99 | Proj Eng/Mechanical Eng: $6,168.90 - $8,173.79
