Job Summary
The Construction Project Manager leads our infrastructure and engineering projects from conception to final commissioning. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of project execution – developing budgets and schedules, securing and managing vendors, and ensuring all installations strictly adhere to engineering standards and local regulatory requirements. As the point of contact, you will travel to job sites to bridge the gap between internal departments, external contractors, and municipal authorities to drive operational efficiency, mitigate delays, and deliver fully commissioned, compliant facilities. This position may be filled at any one of the three levels outlined below.
Core Duties
· Develops project schedules, budgets, and forecasts; identifies, gathers, and selects necessary resources, including materials, equipment, project staff, and external partners
· Contracts with and actively manages Developers, General Contractors, Architectural Engineering firms, and external contractors to ensure project alignment
· Oversees the installation, operation, vendor testing, and commissioning of new and existing equipment systems and infrastructure
· Monitors progress and performance against the project plan; takes action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays
· Enforces engineering standards, designs, and work specifications
· Collaborates with internal departments (planning, finance, legal, IT, etc.) and coordinates with local jurisdictions to secure permits, meet requirements, and obtain Certificates of Occupancy
Project Scope & Complexity
Construction Project Manager (Intermediate) – Manages small to moderate expansions of manual and automated facilities. Controls projects (facility and sort system) with smallest cost, risk, timeline and clear scope of work. Requires minimal guidance/mentorship.
Sr. Construction Project Manager (Advanced) - Manages larger/more complex capital projects (new builds & expansions) for automated and manual facilities. Controls projects with large cost, risk, timeline and scope of work. Requires guidance/mentorship for only the most complex issues.
Construction Project Mgmt. Advisor (Expert) - Manages the largest, most complex (new builds, expansions and first-of-a-kind) capital projects for automated and manual facilities. Controls projects with the largest cost, risk impact and most complex timeline and scope of work. Acts as a mentor/lead to lower-level project managers on simple to complex issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The required skills progress from Intermediate to Advanced to Expert level proficiency
· Demonstrated engineering project management knowledge through experience
· Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
· Comprehension of construction documents and specifications and ability to comprehend technical specifications, drawings and construction documents
· Proficient understanding of Microsoft Project or other CPM related software
· Knowledge of cross-departmental structures to drive seamless collaboration and communication
· Verbal and written communication and presentation skills necessary to communicate with engineering partners, all levels of management and vendors
· Influences others to adapt to continually changing project initiatives with resilience and determination
· Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve goals
· Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions
Minimum Required Education
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, construction project management or related area required. In addition to minimum required experience, additional related experience may be used as an equivalent for degree requirements.
Minimum Required Experience
Construction Project Manager - Three (3) years’ Construction Project Management experience required. In addition to the required degree, an advanced related degree may offset experience requirements.
Sr Construction Project Manager - Six (6) years’ progressive Construction Project Management experience required. In addition to the required degree, an advanced related degree may offset experience requirements.
Construction Project Mgmt. Advisor - Nine (9)+ years progressive experience in multiple/most complex and first-of-a-kind Construction Project Management experience required. In addition to the required degree, an advanced related degree may offset experience requirements.

- Construction Project Manager: $5152.82 - $8244.52
- Sr Construction Project Manager: $5662.27 - $9342.75
- Construction PM Advisor: $6511.62 - $10,744.16
Internal Pay Grade: E24, E25, E26

Domicile and Work Model: This is a hybrid position located in Memphis, TN. Employees must live within 50 miles of the campus location and will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week.
