Release Train Engineer
Description
Responsible for facilitating Agile development processes, collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize requirements, ensuring continuous delivery of business value, facilitating Program Increment Planning events, improving value stream flow, conducting root cause analysis, managing impediments, applying continuous improvement practices, and utilizing Lean methodology to optimize efficiency within the Agile Release Train.
1. Collaborate with solution/product managers and product owners in product planning to ensure effective prioritization of product requirements and continuous delivery of business value.
2. Collaborate with Agile Solution/Product Managers, Product Owners, infrastructure, and project teams throughout the stages of the Agile development and product lifecycle to ensure continuous delivery of business value, as well as to leverage shared technologies, tools, value streams and processes that impact speed to value and time to market.
3. Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events.
4. Facilitate ceremonies like Scrum of Scrums, PO Sync, and Product Management Team meetings and manage the entire PI Planning Event.
5. Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps, Continuous Exploration, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.
6. Conduct root cause analysis to discover and eliminate underlying causes of performance and flow-related issues. Act as the central point of escalation for impediments impacting the agile teams’ ability to deliver on their plans. Manage risks and track dependencies across agile teams.
7. Apply continuous improvement to increase efficiency of the Agile Release Train (ART) and analyse effectiveness and progress through establishing flow and other metrics.
8. Apply Lean methodology to maximize processes that add value, reduce unnecessary steps, limit work in process, limit batch sizes, and minimize rework.
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or business administration and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) required
Experience: Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or business environment. Working experience in teams of agile teams required (preferably using SAFe), with extensive practical knowledge in applying Agile methodology at scale.
