Senior Air Network Planning Engineer
Job Summary
The Senior Air Network Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and managing airline partner networks that support the FedEx Asia Pacific air network. This role leads the planning, launch, and continuous optimization of airline partner operations, ensuring that network solutions meet customer needs while maintaining high standards for service reliability and cost efficiency.
The position works closely with airline partners, internal operations teams, procurement, and third-party vendors to design and implement network solutions, support new service launches, and refine existing operations. The role also focuses on identifying niche market opportunities across Asia Pacific and translating customer requirements into sustainable and operationally sound network solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Airline Partner Network Development
- Develop and manage airline partner network flights and lanes to support the Asia Pacific air network.
- Identify opportunities to expand or optimize partner lanes to meet evolving customer and network requirements.
- Collaborate with airline partners to refine schedules, capacity, routing, and operational performance.
New Service Launch & Network Implementation
- Lead the planning and launch of new airline partner operations across the Asia Pacific region.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities required for new route launches, including operational readiness, system setup, and service activation.
- Ensure smooth implementation through coordination with operations teams, airport authorities, and airline partners.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with internal operations, procurement, and planning teams to implement partner airline network solutions.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and partner airlines to ensure operational alignment and service readiness.
- Support contract implementation and operational alignment for new or existing airline partnerships.
Network Optimization & Performance Management
- Conduct deep network analysis and refinement in collaboration with airline partners and internal operations teams.
- Continuously evaluate network performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and service coverage.
- Support initiatives that balance cost control with service performance and operational resilience.
Customer-Driven Network Solutions
- Support specialized or niche customer requirements across Asia Pacific by designing tailored network solutions.
- Ensure that network design and airline partnerships support evolving customer demand while maintaining operational feasibility.
- Translate customer logistics needs into scalable and cost-effective network structures.
Operational Governance & Reliability
- Ensure airline partner operations meet FedEx standards for service reliability, safety, and operational performance.
- Support operational reviews and improvement initiatives with partner airlines.
- Monitor service performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Management, Logistics, Operations Research, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Several years of experience in air network planning, airline partnerships, aviation operations, or logistics network development.
- Experience working with airline partners or third-party aviation service providers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate operational needs into network solutions.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams and managing complex operational initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cargo airline operations or express logistics networks.
- Knowledge of air cargo networks, hub operations, and airline scheduling principles.
- Experience supporting new route launches or airline partnership implementations.
- Familiarity with commercial agreements, vendor coordination, and operational contract execution.
