Senior Engineering Specialist

Description

Under limited supervision, performs one or more of the following activities: configuration management, system administration, security administration, network administration, development system implementation, production system

implementation. Responds to issues related to environment, hardware, system, and/or software and implements resolution across technology areas. Supports multiple systems simultaneously, and provides leadership for large project efforts. Provide support or lead activities related to change management, outage management and/or project management. 

Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of work experience in information technology or engineering environment. The employer will alternatively

accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or 5 years of work experience in information technology or engineering environment

in lieu of a Master's degree plus 3 years of experience. Must have experience with the following: Strong understanding of LAN and WAN technologies, Internet services, data communication protocols, network security, computer operating systems, information security, and desktop applications; Familiar with WLAN/LAN network topologies and hardware (MPLS, P2P, Broadband, private line, etc.); Identify and solve issues that affect network performance and impact our customers; Experience in the definition, design, and implementation of wired/wireless infrastructure platforms (Cisco and Extreme Networks are a must); Ability to produce detailed documentation including data flow diagrams, logical diagrams, and physical diagrams, SOP documents, and various other forms of technical writing; Extensive knowledge of Cisco command line interface for design, configuration, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure; Extensive knowledge of wireless technology including but not limited to 802.11 AC Wave 2. A related advanced degree may offset the experience requirements. Position allows for telecommuting from home within commuting distance of Collierville, TN. Employer
