We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal counsel and expert advice to senior and executive management on complex legal, regulatory and business matters.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide strategic legal counsel and advice to senior and executive management on complex, high-impact legal and business matters.

  • Support both generalist legal and specialist legal matters across the assigned business remit.

  • Lead or contribute to high-impact divisional, regional, corporate or international projects and initiatives.

  • Identify, assess and advise on legal, regulatory, commercial and operational risks, including current and emerging market developments.

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on issues of varying complexity, using internal and external subject matter experts where required.

  • Develop recommendations, reports, proposals and business cases for senior stakeholders and executive management.

  • Advise on business cases that may include mergers and acquisitions, expansions, large-scale investments or other strategic initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of FedEx standards, external legal requirements, US/EMEA regulations, market trends and best practices.

  • Develop, communicate and enforce departmental policies, procedures, tools and processes.

  • Build effective relationships with senior management, directors, officers, external advisors, consultants, government authorities, trade associations and other relevant external bodies.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with FedEx processes, relevant legislation, external regulations and applicable agreements.

  • Work alongside vendors, consultants and external legal or subject matter experts as required.


What do you bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

  • Significant relevant legal experience, typically 5–10 years.

  • Experience advising senior stakeholders on complex legal, regulatory or commercial matters.

  • Ability to operate independently and plan work on a mid-term basis, up to quarterly planning cycles.

  • Ability to develop departmental or functional policies, procedures and strategies.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strategic mindset with sound legal judgement and business acumen.

  • Ability to interpret complex legal and business information and provide practical, risk-based recommendations.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and international teams.

  • Capability to manage competing priorities in a complex, international business environment.
