General Summary….

The position will work closely with multiple groups to complete engineering related tasks in the logistics/supply chain area.  

Position will establish project objectives and ensure that the analysis meets customer’s requirements.  The position will lead project teams, provide independent discretion, and manage project profitability.

 

 

This position will be responsible for…..

  • Deliver network studies, transportation analysis, and warehouse studies to determine operational improvements to current operations.  This analysis is used to develop the recommended improvements for the customers that provide value in cost reduction, service improvement, etc.
  • Conduct network studies, transportation analysis, and warehouse studies for existing customers.  This is part of our continuous improvement process that is sold to customers.
  • Provide recommendations to analysis approach and methodology for supply chain analysis.
  • Understand, articulate and communicate the concepts and complexity of supply chain problems effectively to internal and external customers outside of engineering.
  • Prepare and present the analysis and solutions to customers.
  • Provide support in data management and reporting.
  • Develop tools to automate the engineering processes.
  • Host fact finding discussions with customers to define: problems, scope, deliverables, and methodology.
  • Write draft proposals for potential consulting clients.
  • Stay abreast of logistics technological advances.
  • Coach engineers as they explain solutions to customers through written proposals and oral presentations.  This includes reviewing the material before presentation, observing the presentation, giving feedback and recommending training.
  • Determine data management strategies and create customized reporting to best depict the results relative to the customer’s business.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through data analysis and development of reporting systems and tools that will provide solutions to the customer’s information needs.
  • Create and apply engineering and operations research tools, advanced Excel and Access and techniques commonly applied against supply chain problems.
  • Conduct transportation analysis of potential customer’s data which leads to the development of a value proposition for the customer, the operations implementation plan, and the development of pricing.
  • Act as a customer facing consultant with ability to ascertain underlying issues, develop tailored solution methodology and present persuasive rational to gain acceptance.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, math, statistics, computer science, finance, accounting or related field preferred and 10 or more years of combined business and engineering experience.
  • In lieu of degree, high school diploma or GED and 12 or more years of relevant experience.
  • MS or MBA preferred.
  • Transportation related experience preferred.
  • Have an understanding of various programming languages (object oriented and mathematical).
  • Knowledge of SQL server and Access, and the use of query tools.
  • Understanding of CPLEX or similar mathematical solvers is preferred.
  • Strong project management, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team (within Engineering and with Sales, Operations, Carrier Management, Parcel, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present solutions that add value to the customer (external or internal).

Pay Range: 65108.00 (Min) - 94323.00 (Mid) - 123538.00 (Max) Yearly
