POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for providing professional level support for the successful day-to-day operations and execution of Leave of Absence, Accommodations and/or other related accommodation processes such as Early Return to Work and Relocation. Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, medical offices, and other stakeholders to manage requests in a manner that is consistent with FedEx Freight’s policies and process and in accordance with any applicable state and federal laws. Uses judgement within defined practices and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide respectful and professional guidance, clarification, and explanations to employees regarding leaves, accommodations, early return to work or relocations including pay during occurrence
  2. Serves as a partner for HR colleagues, management, legal, workers compensation and employee relations.
  3. Coordinates the process; verifies eligibility, determines approvals/denials, integrates leaves with applicable state laws and other paid/unpaid programs; monitors maximum duration allowed under federal/state and/or company policy, and supports the return-to-work process including early return-to-work process.
  4. Applies attention to detail and critical thinking in reviewing required medical documentation to determine eligibility and status of leave and/or accommodation requests and recommends further action.
  5. Track and monitor in case management system in accordance with FedEx Freight’s policies and processes and in a manner that consistently meets scheduled audit requirements.
  6. Prioritize return to work and early return to work program in accordance with workflow processes ensuring employees provide required documentation in accordance with company policy; inform Safety/ER/Legal of any medical concerns that may conflict with DOT regulations or the essential functions of the job.
  7. Responsible for a high volume of requests in accordance with FedEx Freight’s polices and processes.
  8. Stay up to date with all applicable federal laws (FMLA, ADAAA, USERRA) and state/local laws; administer compliant leaves and accommodation requests.
  9. Ensures accurate and timely processing of requests for eligible and qualified employees.
  10. Monitors leaves of absence, disability claims and accommodation requests for accuracy and eligibility, performing analytics and reporting support.
  11. Exercises professionalism and complies with HIPAA laws when collecting, discussing, and documenting all information
  12. Adheres to internal Service Level Agreement (SLA) and established quality standards.
  13. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  14. Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience plus two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

Knowledge of ADA, FMLA and USERRA regulations

Knowledge of DOT regulations, ADA and Federal and state specific regulations, preferred

Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Workday, preferred

Strong computer skills including data entry, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and the Internet

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with various levels within the organization and externally with vendors, doctors, etc.

Demonstrated ability to recognize problems and identify solutions; work under pressure and be results focused

Must be willing and able to commit to ongoing training and education to stay abreast of changes to the laws that apply to leaves

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multiple teams with strong organizational skills and attention to detail while juggling multiple priorities

Ability to function effectively in situations that may be potentially adversarial
