Description

Under the direction of the District Human Resources Manager, the Special Assignment HR Rep will be responsible for various activities within the HR function for assigned facilities and leading or supporting related projects. This role supports the organization by utilizing skills in talent acquisition and employee retention, employee relations, and applying a working knowledge of HR policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, and provincial laws regarding employment practices.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates knowledge of HR practices, guidelines and regulations to monitor and provide advice regarding compliance with all employment laws, regulations, and FedEx FedEx policies, procedures and processes.
  • Provides support and engages all levels of internal customers in assigned locations for activities, meetings, special events and handles issues and questions.
  • Partners with other HR employees and operational business partners to develop and/or facilitate HR strategies, business objectives, and programs.
  • Assists in providing guidance, training and sharing best practices to the Talent Acquisition Coordinators, Talent Acquisition Partners, and Operations Administrator – HR.
  • Participates in retention/engagement events and compliance activities and follows-up/monitors action plans in assigned locations.
  • In conjunction with hiring manager, may be responsible for select Non-Package Handler pay reviews and providing guidance to managers on pay guidelines and sound pay recommendations.
  • May be assigned to work at multiple locations; some locations requiring travel. Other travel may be required based on work assignments.
  • May conduct investigations and provide recommendations on employee relations issues in an appropriate and timely manner. Provides advice to management and responds to employee inquiries, seeking additional guidance or consultation when necessary.
  • May lead the full cycle process for non-package handler talent acquisition, including applicant sourcing, recruiting, demonstrating good faith efforts in Affirmative Action, pre-employment screening, interviewing and employee onboarding.
  • May lead talent acquisition activities, including peak planning, and participating in outreach events; builds and maintains effective relationships with schools and community-based organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Associate degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related discipline required.

Minimum Experience

One (1) year experience in an HR generalist, employee relations, talent acquisition, or related role required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and provincial employment laws.

Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information to all levels of management.

Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and work independently in responding to day-to-day functional needs.

Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.

Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with employees.

Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.

Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.

Ability to work during day, evening and overnight hours as business needs dictate.
