Business Intelligence Specialist
The Business Intelligence Specialist is part of a collaborative team responsible for driving success and profitability by delivering data-driven services to customers. This role involves defining BI initiatives, gathering requirements, designing visual analytics, partnering with IT, developing code, creating documentation, and deploying and maintaining applications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze diverse data sources and documentation; organize findings into cohesive, actionable formats.
- Design and develop data visualizations using QlikView and Spotfire.
- Identify and define technical and functional requirements, resources, and processes.
- Create specifications, deployment plans, system manuals, and other technical documentation.
- Follow project management and software development processes to improve product and service quality.
- Write and optimize SQL queries; prepare reports and analyses using tools such as Cognos, Spotfire, QlikView, and R.
- Provide application maintenance and enhancement support.
- Conduct user acceptance testing and produce supporting documentation.
- Facilitate design review sessions with analysts and stakeholders across departments.
- Ensure data validity and reliability for accurate reporting.
- Test new application and system features for performance and usability.
- Maintain and update documentation for BI systems and processes.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in business intelligence or data analytics.
