GENERAL SUMMARY
Leads the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) functions for FedEx Canada. Provides oversight to the development, implementation and application of Canada’s Safety Strategy, including, people policies and/or programs, to ensure the prevention of injuries and accidents in the workplace and ensuring the safety and well-being of all Canadian staff and assets in all workgroup across the region utilizing knowledge and involvement in Health & Safety best practices. Contributes, both as a subject matter expert as the H&S manager and, as well, provides HR oversight as a member of the HR management team and into cross HR integrated solutions.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related safety or environmental field
- Board Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) certification, or equivalent OR ability to successfully complete within 24 months of hire
- Must be a current member of FEC management or LEAP/EXCEL endorsed

Minimum number of years required for entry to this job
- Professional safety experience with direct responsibility for a minimum of six (6) years in the areas of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment, of which 3 of the 6 years are in a management capacity
- Solid understanding of and/or ability to interpret Corporate, Business, and Regulatory requirements and ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts
- Demonstrated HSE functional/technical expertise with strong knowledge of safe work practices, auditing, record keeping, investigation/RCFA, etc.
- Demonstrated strong data management and analytical skills
- Experience with organizational culture change/development
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor others
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to develop/expand in HSE role (i.e. PSM, Risk management, Behavioral Based Safety)
- Experience implementing & maintaining site wide safety related programs
- Experience with Dangerous Goods (DG) - required
Technical Skill Requirements
- Solid knowledge / understanding of Part 2 of the Canadian Labour Code and all other related health, safety and environmental legislation
- Strong knowledge of IATA and TDG, Workers Compensation, industrial hygiene and building & fire code legislation
- Strong project / time management and problem solving skills
Computer literacy and proficiency:
- MS Power Point – Standard
- MS Word – Standard
- MS Excel – Advanced
- Working knowledge in Data Management application e.g. SAP, ORACLE, Power BI
