Sr. Network Engineer
Description
Under limited supervision, performs one or more of the following activities on the company's internal networks: configuration management, system administration, security administration, network administration, development system implementation, production system implementation. Responds to issues related to environment, hardware, system, and/or software and implements resolution across technology areas. Supports multiple systems simultaneously and provides leadership for large project efforts. Provides support or lead activities related to change management, outage management and/or project management.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in IT-related engineering, computer science or information systems or related field plus 5 years of work experience in engineering or information technology environment. The employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree in IT-related engineering, computer science or information systems or related field plus 3 years of work experience in engineering or information technology environment, in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience. The position requires experience with: Experience with Network administration and architecture; In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, EIGRP); Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl); Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN); Configure and install routers, switches and other network devices; Experience with access control models and network security; Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools; Experience with network operating systems (Cisco IOS, IOS-XE). A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements. This position will be hybrid in Plano, TX and candidates must live within a 50-mile radius. This position is hybrid, meaning that employees will be required to work at a FedEx office location up to several times per week.
