Description

To maintain control to monitor bureau of customs and border protection (customs), customer and company regulatory activity. Minimize potential liabilities to our customers and FedEx Trade Networks by ensuring that all regulatory activities are performed within time constraints.

  • Train regulatory svcs analysts/spclsts in assignments and cross train them to ensure that essential functions are performed timely during absences.
  • Written correspondence or telephone conversations with shippers, clients, company employees, us customs & border protection (CBP) & other government agencies concerning information or documentation required by CBP or client to further explain or clarify information.
  • Refer unresolved/major problems/issues to the RSD manager.
  • Answer questions & solve problems within department and with other departments. Sort and assign department incoming work to analysts/specialists to ensure that regulatory time frames are met.
  • Monitor flow & quality of daily dept.
  • Responsibilities; refer current issues & potential problems to RSD mgr.
  • Assist RSD mgr. In development of dept. Procedures. Work closely w/or fill in for analysts to ensure all tasks are completed on time, incl.
  • The actual processing or correction of 70-90 svc invoices/ month. Provide prompt,accurate responses/guidance to 40-50 more incoming phone calls ea. Month from internal/external customers.
  • Review monthly accounting discrepancy reports;request further action from other employees in RSD & throughout company to resolve issues; follow up as necessary.
  • Represent the reg. Svcs dept on cross-functional committees as necessary to solve problems & establish/refine procedures.
  • Consult w/& advise customers when customs & other gov't agencies (FDA,bureau of alcohol,tobacco & firearms,dot,epa,dept of state,federal communications commission,dea & U.S. Fish & wildlife svc become actively involved w/a shipment.
  • Ensure issue(s) are resolved timely & in compliance w/laws & regulations.
  • Communicate w/internal & external customers concerning inquiries/problems relating to the release & entry imported merchandise, ensure compliance & avoid delays at release. Issues incl.
  • Country of orgin/marking, NAFTA, quota/visa restrictions, anti-dumping & countervailing duty issues,tariff classification, seizures,demands for redelivery, required documentation, customs & other gov't agency requirements. Provide regulatory info.
  • Guidance to clients, shippers & employees at all levels & locations in person or via phone,fax,letter & email concerning imported merchandise & ensure accurate entry at the lowest possible cost. Conduct research via internet,global trade data,other internal resources & through consultation w/gov't agencies as necessary to compile info.
  • Develop arguments, create claims & protests ...(Cont. #7) To customs on behalf of clients. Resolve issues related to duty, tax, fees, valuation & classification of imported merchandise in order to obtain applicable refunds for company & clients.
  • Collect relevant data & create successful petitions to customs for mitigation,cancellation,or resolution of demands for liquidated damages & penalties, seizures,marking notices & redelivery notices to minimize liabilities while preserving company & Customers' compliance levels w/customs.
  • Research, create & submit requests for binding rulings to customs for customers & ensure that entry is filed accurately.
  • Provide complete, accurate & timely info.
  • To update product database records and ensure compliance w/customs rulings, notices of action, decisions & other entry instructions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs & other gov't agencies' regulations affecting importation of merchandise by reading,evaluating & further researching info.
  • Obtained from abi administrative messages, federal register,int'l trade today/broker power,meetings, published artilces, periodicals & related websites on the internet. Disseminate info.
  • To internal & external customers as appropriate. Develop/maintain positive working relationships & open lines of communication w/customs & other gov't agency personnel.
  • Analyze entries related to disputed invoices to determine accuracy of entry;compose/file appropriate claims or tenders &/or notify clients of our determinations & actions to ensure that compliance requirements are met & that we exercise "due diligence" as a broker.
  • Provide ongoing training/guidance to rsd/r&c analysts as necessary via phone & in person to ensure accurate,compliant entry.
  • Serve as a single pt. Of contact for large, unmanaged accts.
  • That require frequent, more technical assistance/attention because the level of service & depth of of technical guidance & assistance they require can't be met by the call center;development & maintenance of a strong business relationship(cont.) W/all clients.
  • Attend client meetings at company & at clients' premises as necessary; participate in joint sales calls w/sales representatives & client meetings w/customs; attend customs & other gov't agency meetings as necessary in order to protect company's & our clients' interests.   • Performs other duties as assigned.


Experience:

  • Four-year college degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Ten (10) years industry experience in brokerage preferred.
  • Customs broker's license preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of custom brokerage and other government agency regulations, harmonized tariff schedule of us, general import/export procedures, and company's general operating procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs and other government agency requirements specific to individual indus- tries and products.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills should include leader- ship, problem solving, and ability to work quickly, accurately and thoroughly with attention to details.
  • Multitasking skills are essential.
  • Adept at commun- icating effectively in writing, over the phone and in person. Proficient at resolving complex import issues through utilization of well developed analyti- cal, research, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • General understanding of accounting practices and procedures. Strong customer service orientation.
  • Fundamental understanding of ms word and excel.
  • Leader- ship skills, problem solving skills, organized & attention to details desired

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: 4,291.67 - 8,360.33 USD Monthly
