Description

Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the legal counsel of a specific departmental-emphasis area. Provides advice to the corporation and its subsidiaries on a broad range of legal matters.

Essential Functions

  • Provides legal advice.

  • Reviews and interprets laws and regulations.

  • Structures and drafts legal documents.

  • Assists in internal audits.

  • Plans, organizes, directs & leads team of compliance attorneys

  • Guides and manages the legal compliance and defense of the company in response to administrative matters and other legal challenges threatened or pending, as well as provide legal guidance to other departments and functions in connection with legal and regulatory compliance and other legal challenges.  

  • Develops company responses and comments to proposed regulatory actions

  • Provides regulatory input and guidance on legislative proposals

  • Manage and support FedEx participation in relevant industry associations

  • Establish strong relationships with relevant government agencies and officials

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education

Juris doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to the bar.

Minimum Experience

Significant related experience as an attorney with at least five (5) years' experience in specific discipline/expertise of law which includes demonstrably successful results (e.g., high performance ratings).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Broad range of relevant legal knowledge.

Proven ability to apply sound legal and business judgment to establish and accomplish goals.

Strong project management skills.

Effective organizational, time-management, self-directing and multi-tasking skills, and ability to successfully work with others in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Actual pay is determined by several job-related factors permitted by law and relevant to the position, including, but not limited to, experience relative to the job, tenure, market level, pay at the location for this job, performance, schedule, and work assignment.

Pay: Washington D.C. pay range: $13,942.45 - $27,883.50 monthly
