Strategic Account Manager
Description
General Summary
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for relationship management, existing business renewal, and new business creation at existing accounts. They are responsible for proactively delivering innovative solutions, as well as driving sales and revenue growth for designated key accounts. The SAM will own the overall customer relationship and maintain high level of customer service across all sites.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships for the assigned large growth or retention accounts, identifies opportunities for account growth while offering customers a full array of value-added services
- Monitor operational metrics for all key account sites related to assigned accounts
- Oversee competitor actions in each account to ensure that appropriate responses are formulated and communicated.
- Drive sales growth and revenue goals within assigned accounts; maintain ultimate responsibility for the customer P&L statement
- Responsible for leading the global strategy and implementation of large accounts and/or responsible for the regional implementation for large accounts.
- Drive and pro-actively monitor customer satisfaction through regular interactions with the customer and maintain awareness of all customer service-related activities
- Ensure alignment between customer expectations and FSC expectations / operational activities (pricing and contracts)
- Proactively drive executive engagement, bringing the tools and resources of the organization to bear for the customer
- Maintain documented account strategy for the assigned accounts (e.g., Gold sheet)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred and 8 years of supply chain / 3PL sales experience. In lieu of degree, high school diploma or GED and 10 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve major account sales goals and execute major customer sales strategies.
- Strong human relations, communication and negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of customer relationship maintenance and customer retention.
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Strategic planning and sales management skills
Working Conditions
General office environment that is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment available.
