Systems Architect Advisor
Description
Under limited supervision, define processes, technical infrastructure, and architectural standards for development and implementation of systems at the enterprise level.
About the Role:
As a key member of the Infrastructure Capacity team, the Systems Architect Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and efficiency of our technology environment. This role is responsible for monitoring resource utilization, forecasting future infrastructure needs, and proactively identifying capacity risks across compute, storage, network, and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate brings a balance of analytical expertise and technical knowledge to help optimize system performance and align infrastructure resources with business growth. By partnering with cross-functional teams—including operations, architecture, finance, and application owners—this role ensures we maintain a resilient and cost-effective infrastructure that supports strategic initiatives and service level expectations.
Essential Functions /responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze infrastructure resource usage (CPU, memory, storage, network) across data centers, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Forecast infrastructure demand and ensure sufficient capacity to meet business needs and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Design and maintain dashboards and reports on capacity trends, performance, and utilization.
- Collaborate with IT operations, architecture, application, and finance teams to support strategic planning and budgeting.
- Develop and implement capacity models and simulation tools to predict future growth.
- Recommend hardware upgrades, cloud scaling plans, or configuration changes based on forecasted demand.
- Identify over- and underutilized resources to optimize cost and performance.
- Support incident response related to capacity issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Evaluates products and projects to ensure congruency with strategic initiatives and industry trends.
- Coach the development of less senior staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Technical Skills:
- Experience in large-scale enterprise environments or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong knowledge of virtualization (VMware, OpenShift) and container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Familiarity with storage (SAN/NAS/S3), compute, and networking principles
- Experience with monitoring and performance tools (e.g., VMware vROps, VMware Aria, Prometheus, Nagios)
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
- Analytical & Planning Skills:
- Capacity planning and forecasting methodologies
- Data analysis and visualization to support decision-making
- Understanding of performance baselining and trends
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Ability to explain technical findings to business stakeholders
- Work cross-functionally with application owners, cloud teams, and finance
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Strategic thinking and attention to detail
- Time management and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Keeps current on industry QA standards and practices.
Domicile Information
This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. Preference is to be hybrid in Memphis, TN.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, and/or equivalent.
Minimum Experience
Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or business environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Keeps current on industry QA standards and practices.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
Pay: $96,097.48/annually to $172,957.32/annually
