Summary:
Provides leadership and consultation in a team-based, customer-oriented environment.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise
· 5+ years of deep data engineering background.
· 5+ years of hands-on experience in Google Cloud (or similar cloud provider), with specific expertise in GCP-native governance tools like Dataplex, Data Catalog, and BigQuery (lineage/security).
· 5+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines and using Git. Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and familiarity with the concept of "Governance as Code."
· Experience working with modern AI assistance tools (Copilot, Gemini) to accelerate development and design.
Data Governance & Architecture
· Strong understanding of modern data governance, including knowledge of Data Privacy & Compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
· Proven experience implementing Data Mesh principles, including Domain-driven design and treating Data-as-a-Product.
Leadership & Delivery
· Prior tech lead experience is highly preferred. Must possess the ability to translate complex technical governance debt into a clear, strategic roadmap for non-technical stakeholders.
· Must have worked in an Agile environment and be capable of leading architecture, planning, and design sessions.
· Excellent communication skills with a proven comfort level working alongside vendor partners and geographically distributed teams across different time zones.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Skilled in one or more programming languages (Java / Python) used by FedEx.
- Knowledge and experience with distributed systems, GCP/Azure, client/server technology, and object-oriented (OO) development.
- Knowledge of Dataplex, SDP and other google services is preferred.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, and/or equivalent formal.
Minimum Experience
Five (5) years qualifying work experience in information technology or engineering environment.
Domicile Information
This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $7,094.23/month - $15,607.31/month.
