Welcome Center Clerk
Saturday-Wednesday 11:00pm-7:00am
Edwardsville, IL
The Welcome Center Clerk is responsible for checking in and out trailers and containers, managing shipping and receiving paperwork, and maintaining access control of the yard. This role ensures accurate documentation, professional driver interaction, and compliance with safety and operational standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Inspect inbound and outbound trailers/containers.
- Document individuals entering and leaving the yard.
- Maintain control of Bills of Lading (BOLs) and trailer/container inspection sheets.
- Interact with drivers courteously, respectfully, and professionally.
- Check trailers/containers in and out using the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Coordinate with clerical and workflow staff.
- Answer phone calls from internal and external customers.
- Maintain access control and driver logs.
- Perform yard audits and reconcile yard status with WMS data.
- Prioritize and manage a high volume of emails at shift start and throughout the day.
- Enforce safety policies including PPE, pedestrian traffic, speed limits, and site-specific rules.
- Report safety and security issues promptly.
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Skills / Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service driven.
- Strong team player.
