Position Summary
The Welcome Center Clerk is responsible for managing the check-in and check-out of trailers and containers, processing shipping and receiving documentation, and maintaining access control for the yard. This role ensures accurate recordkeeping, supports yard operations, and upholds safety, security, and customer service standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Inspect inbound and outbound trailers and containers for compliance and documentation.
- Record and monitor all individuals entering and exiting the yard.
- Maintain document control for Bills of Lading (BOLs) and trailer/container inspection sheets.
- Interact with drivers in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
- Check trailers and containers in and out using the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Coordinate with clerical and workflow staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Answer phone calls from internal and external customers promptly and professionally.
- Maintain access control systems and driver logs.
- Conduct yard audits to reconcile physical yard status with WMS data.
- Prioritize and manage a high volume of emails, especially at shift start and throughout the day.
- Enforce site safety policies, including PPE use, pedestrian traffic rules, and speed limits.
- Report safety and security concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1--2 years of relevant experience in logistics, shipping/receiving, or yard operations.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Customer service oriented and professional demeanor.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.

If the incumbent resides in the province of Quebec, Functional French (written and spoken) is required.
