Monday - Friday - 1st Shift (Day)

Yard Jockey I

The Yard Jockey I is responsible for the movement and spotting of containers to support warehouse operations in sorting and processing materials for shipment or storage. This role ensures timely container movements and maintains thorough knowledge of on-hand inventory and positioning.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a neat and orderly storage lot to maximize efficiency in servicing plant needs.
  • Operate Yard Truck safely during daily roll-on/roll-off procedures involving loaded and empty containers.
  • Drive and operate vehicle under 15 mph in and around the warehouse and staging areas.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks and scheduled vehicle maintenance for low-mileage, severe-duty operations.
  • Interact daily with warehouse personnel and comply with safety requirements.
  • Communicate via 2-way radio with dispatch, operations, and warehouse teams.
  • Ensure security of valuable commodities and the storage area; seek supervisory guidance when needed.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding and adherence to safety rules, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Follow instructions and pre-defined guidelines to perform job functions.
  • Work under immediate supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent education and 0--2 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service driven.
  • Strong team player.
