Job Summary

  • Lead the long-range planning for the structure and interaction of the enterprise's major types/sources of data, information needs, and business processes/strategy.
  • Responsible for decisions/priorities regarding the overall enterprise's architecture.
  • Translate business needs into architectural solutions (current and target state) and defining solutions to problems through application of information technology.
  • Facilitate the establishment and implementation of standards/guidelines that direct integration of multiple platforms.
  • Develop/document the framework for integration/implementation for changes to architectural standards.
  • Determine architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability and security needs.
  • Provide technical guidance to project team. Coach the development of Jr. IT architects Perform other duties as assigned.

As an Enterprise Architect, this position is focused on long-term architecture and strategy for solutions for supply chain automation at the enterprise and SAFe portfolio levels. Daily activities will include engagement with business and IT architects to determine impact assessment, decompose and analyze strategic initiatives. In this position, you will work in close partnership with strategic business partners and architects to define architectural guidance for program-level product teams and development teams to solve problems with high system interdependency. You will be a leader in enterprise architecture, inform the development of cross-functional, multi-platform systems, engage with enterprise and solution architects across FedEx and mentor other architects.

Additionally, this position works closely with and engages business and technical stakeholders at all levels of the FedEx Enterprise to translate FedEx business strategy and initiatives into actionable strategic roadmaps. The Enterprise Architect will work with stakeholders and architects to identify and define enterprise capabilities, create conceptual architecture, build out a long-term roadmap, and create durable and initiative-based architectural artifacts for the consumption of the teams to execute with a business value driven approach. This will require understanding of the impact and influence of broader industry and technology trends on the strategic business vision to recommend action plans for our global operations and to executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Manage the enterprise business capability model to provide architectural viewpoints, roadmaps, and strategic recommendations. Ability to evolve the organization’s guiding principles and process architecture to align IT with business goals.
  • Lead the architectural design of critical initiatives through rigorous target state system modeling and capability road mapping. Translate high-level strategic goals into actionable designs that bridge the gap between current realities and the future state.
  • Deep knowledge of architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, BIZBOK) and experience operating within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Ability to bridge the gap between agile delivery teams and long-term architectural governance.
  • Identify opportunities for application rationalization and reusable data services. Champion strategies that reduce data duplication and streamline the application portfolio.
  • Lead architecture across functional and non-functional domains by incorporating best-practice principles, modern design patterns, and reusable data services to reduce duplication and technical debt.
  • Evaluate and apply emerging technologies to business environments. Design blueprints that leverage new tech to improve work productivity, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Proven executive presentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value. Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority and enlist others in achieving architectural objectives.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, regulatory considerations, and major issues. Ability to apply this context to architectural decisions to ensure solutions are compliant and competitive.
  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard requirements analysis and modeling tools (specifically Sparx Enterprise Architect) to create maintainable, standard-compliant architectural artifacts.


Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems and/or equivalent formal training.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to apply basic computer concepts, theories, principles and methods to projects, business problems, issues, and/or questions.

Strong communication skills.
