Description
The Aerospace, Defense & Southern Border Industry Fellow is a highly influential strategic leader responsible for shaping enterprise growth, portfolio strategy, and product innovation across aerospace, defense, government logistics, and cross-border transportation markets. This role serves as the industry authority, translating customer needs, market opportunities, and operational capabilities into differentiated solutions, investment priorities, and sustainable business growth.
The Fellow will develop and execute business plans, influence strategic portfolio direction, and lead complex initiatives from concept through commercialization. This leader will create compelling strategic narratives that align stakeholders around enterprise priorities, guide investment decisions, and accelerate achievement of corporate growth objectives. Working directly with customers, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams, the Fellow will drive innovation, portfolio performance, and measurable business outcomes.
Essential Functions:
Key Qualifications
- Industry Expertise: 10+ years of direct experience in Aerospace, Defense, Government Logistics, Cross-Border Transportation, or related industries.
- Business Development: Proven success developing and executing business plans, growth strategies, and enterprise-level portfolio roadmaps.
- Executive Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to influence strategic portfolio direction, investment decisions, and senior executive stakeholders.
- Product Development and Commercial Execution: Extensive experience leading product development from ideation through execution, commercialization, and ongoing portfolio optimization.
- Advance Analytics: Advanced analytical capabilities, including SQL reporting, KPI development, and data-driven decision making.
- Portfolio Management: Experience managing complex global portfolios and large-scale strategic initiatives with portfolio-level governance, tracking, and executive visibility.
- Strategic Direction: Ability to develop clear, compelling strategic narratives that align cross-functional teams and support enterprise business goals.
- Global Trade Experience: Deep knowledge of international logistics, customs clearance, trade compliance, and global transportation capabilities.
- Customer Solutioning: Proven success developing customer-centric solutions and partnering directly with customers to solve complex business challenges.
- Team Leadership: Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive presence, with experience mentoring Product Managers and influencing across matrixed organizations.
- Proficiency with SQL, Power BI, Microsoft 365 tools, and executive-level presentation development, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and compelling recommendations for senior leadership.
Location
This position will be hybrid in Memphis, TN, Miami, FL, Pittsburgh, PA, or Plano, TX and candidates must live within a 50 mile radius. This position is hybrid, meaning employees will be required to work at a FedEx Campus location four (4) times per week.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent directly related experience.
Minimum Experience:
10+ years in industry verticals product / solutions innovation, design, or development, with 3+ years in a senior or lead product management role. An advanced degree may substitute for experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong industry verticals experience with expertise in building and launching products.
- Proven success in full Product Lifecycle Management, from ideation to launch.
- Skilled in Data & Analytics, metrics-driven decision-making, and customer insights.
- Exceptional leadership, Communication & Influence, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience leading Cross-Functional Orchestration for complex initiatives.
