To manage the design and development activities for a group. Responsibility includes systems and application analysis, programming, feasibility studies, etc.
This role leads the Enterprise Technology Strategy & Partnership team, composed of senior-level technology architects responsible for defining enterprise architecture direction, technology and modernization strategy, and assessing preferred vendor partnerships.
The IT Manager will oversee highly experienced architects who influence enterprise-wide initiatives, technology roadmaps, and strategic transformation programs. This position partners closely with Enterprise Architecture, Domain Architecture, Engineering, Information Security, Infrastructure, and Executive leadership to ensure alignment between business strategy and technology direction.
Reporting to Managing Director of Enterprise Technology Architecture, this role requires deep technical expertise, strong architectural experience, and exceptional executive communication skills to drive enterprise clarity, governance, and innovation.
Essential Functions
- Lead and manage a team of Enterprise architects responsible for technology strategy, governance, and cross-organizational alignment.
- Define and drive enterprise technology strategy and modernization roadmaps in alignment with business priorities.
- Provide architectural oversight across major initiatives to ensure scalability, resilience, security, and long-term sustainability.
- Partner with executive leadership and VP-level stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into actionable technology direction.
- Oversee feasibility studies, architectural evaluations, and technology assessments to guide strategic investments.
- Promote adoption of modern architectural principles such as cloud native applications
- Promote appropriate use of AI in the architecture and development space such as code archeology
- Ensure architectural governance processes are followed while enabling agility and innovation.
- Mentor and develop senior architects to expand enterprise influence and technical leadership capabilities.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to simplify complex systems and reduce technical debt.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, math or directly related quantitative degree or related field.
Minimum Experience
- Five (5) years systems development experience which includes programming.
- Skilled in one or more programming languages.
Preferred Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise technology architecture roles.
- Demonstrated expertise across multiple technology domains (cloud platforms, distributed systems, data architecture, integration patterns, APIs, modernization strategies).
- Prior experience leading senior architects or high-performing technical teams.
- Proven ability to influence VP and executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience driving enterprise transformation, simplification, and modernization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of cross-domain integration and enterprise governance models.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Deep knowledge of software engineering and enterprise architecture principles.
- Broad technical expertise across multiple technology stacks and platforms.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend emerging technologies aligned to enterprise strategy.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to executive audiences.
- Strong strategic thinking and enterprise-level problem-solving skills.
- Proven leadership capability in managing highly experienced, senior-level architects.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, cross-organizational environments.
- Strong management, human relations, and organizational leadership skills.
- Ability to build trust and credibility across technical and business communities.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law.
