What you’ll be working on

Own the end‑to‑end payroll cycle with 100% accuracy and timeliness

  • Deliver weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls using SAP and Kronos.
  • Process all payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, deductions, garnishments, superannuation, and taxation.
  • Ensure all payroll updates—new hires, terminations, pay changes—are processed correctly and on schedule.

Maintain full compliance with payroll legislation and internal controls

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, awards, and taxation rules.
  • Maintain complete, accurate payroll records and audit trails.
  • Prepare payroll reports for HR, Finance, and management, ensuring financial transparency and audit readiness.

Lead accuracy, quality, and performance across the payroll team

  • Mentor and support payroll team members, providing guidance on systems, processes, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor and audit payroll transactions to ensure performance standards are consistently met.
  • Support the final stages of the pay run process, validating data before payment release.

Resolve payroll issues with professionalism and strong stakeholder engagement

  • Act as a key point of contact for employee payroll queries, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Liaise with internal business partners, HR, Finance, and external vendors to troubleshoot system issues and maintain smooth operations.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, providing accurate updates to stakeholders.

Drive continuous improvement and system optimisation

  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, enhance accuracy, and reduce manual effort.
  • Support the Payroll Manager with process improvement initiatives, project implementation, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Stay current with payroll trends, legislative changes, and emerging technologies.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Significant end‑to‑end Australian payroll experience within a large organisation.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP; Kronos experience highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of payroll legislation, awards, taxation rules, and superannuation.
  • Experience in payroll accounting, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Advanced Excel capability and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll matters clearly.
  • A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
