Sr Platform Engineering Analyst
Description
We are seeking a highly skilled technologist to fill a Sr. Platform Engineering Analyst position in the Middleware Architecture team to lead the design, engineering, and modernization of enterprise messaging and streaming infrastructure. In this role, candidates will play a critical part in building robust internal tools, automating deployment pipelines, and driving the transition from legacy messaging systems to modern, cloud-native streaming platforms. Activities will include:
- Developing, engineering, and maintaining high-performance Java based messaging tools to support and optimize the overarching Messaging and Streaming Infrastructure.
- Architecting and automating CI/CD deployment pipelines for messaging tools while leveraging Ansible to automate routing operational and messaging support tasks.
- Setting up, configuring and managing highly scalable messaging and streaming environments within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) utilizing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and automation tools (Ansible).
- Leading the strategic migration of existing legacy Java Message Service (JMS) workloads and configurations to modern scalable solutions primarily using Google Pub/Sub and Apache Kafka (or commercially supported implementations from Confluent).
Required Technical Skills

- Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise messaging and event-driven architectures

- Strong Java/J2EE development experience

- JSON, XML, SOAP, and WSDL
- Event-Driven Architecture design patterns
Cloud & Infrastructure
Experience designing and supporting cloud-native applications utilizing:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Microsoft Azure
- Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)
Experience with:
- Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
- Ansible automation
- CI/CD pipeline development
- GitHub
- Jenkins
Data & Security
- SQL and JDBC
- Oracle databases
- NoSQL databases (DataStax/Cassandra preferred)
- OAuth 2.0
- OpenID Connect
- Okta (preferred)
Communication & Leadership
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex enterprise technical initiatives.
- Experience defining enterprise messaging architecture and engineering standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Architects, Product Managers, Software Engineers, Infrastructure Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Business stakeholders, and vendor partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience coordinating work across multiple Agile teams and vendor organizations.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, engineering, or information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.
Minimum Experience
Three to four (3-4) years’ work experience in Platform Engineering or related field. Familiarity with conducting end-to end analyses, including data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, and presentations. General understanding of the industry, competitors, and evolving technologies. Experience as a member of multi-functional project teams. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Domicile:
The preferred location for this hybrid position is Memphis, TN. However, we will consider candidates based elsewhere within the United States, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories. Candidates residing within 50 miles of a FedEx campus will be required to work on-site at a FedEx location several times per week.”
