Systems Architect Advisor (Enterprise Network Services)

Job Profile Summary:
Under limited supervision, define processes, technical infrastructure for Global Network Engineering (GNE) architectural standards for development and implementation of Network systems at the enterprise level.
Job Description:
Network Engineering Architecture team proxy (primary designee) for Network Strategy & Reference Architecture (NSRA) initiatives including but not limited to establishing design and standards for global Network Engineering, leading Agility compliance for NSRA tasks, and deliverables. Also, for developing and delivering individual initiative outcomes, drawing on the business to ensure successful implementation and tracking in Planview.
Essential Functions
- Primary lead for Network Standards & Reference Architecture (NSRA). Facilitate NSRA architecture discussions, ensure important decisions are documented, record and publish meeting minutes, follow-up on open NSRA group action items, facilitate escalations for decision input from management, ensure management escalated architecture issues are resolved, and facilitate feedback to the entire team.
- Actively leads the objectives of the NSRA Team including driving standards and team objectives, conducting product evaluations and other activities as requested.
- Evaluates products and projects to ensure congruency with strategic initiatives and industry trends.
- Engage and align with Network product teams and IT partners & vendors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skills/Knowledge of:
- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
- Solid background in network administration and architecture
- In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, EIGRP)
- Familiarity with access control models and network security
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Organizational and mentoring skills
- Maintain complete technical documentation.
- Keeps current on industry QA standards and practices.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, and/or equivalent.
Minimum Experience
Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or business environment.
Domicile Information:
This position is preferred to be in Memphis TN World Technology Center. Relocation assistance may be available based on business need.
This position is also eligible for telecommuting and may be located anywhere within the United States excluding AK, HI and U.S. territories. Depending on your location, for employees who live within a 50-mile radius of a FedEx office location, you may be required to work at a FedEx Campus several times per week.
