POSITION OVERVIEW:
Provides enterprise-level architectural leadership across compute, storage, network, cloud, and application platforms. Responsible for developing architecture blueprints, reference designs, standards, and patterns that guide engineering and operational teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Develop and maintain architecture blueprints, reference architectures, design standards, and platform patterns to ensure consistency and scalability across enterprise systems.
2.    Translate business requirements into technical architecture, ensuring alignment with strategy, security controls, operational readiness, and lifecycle plans.
3.    Lead end-to-end solution design for infrastructure, platforms, data center technologies, and mission-critical systems.
4.    Conduct architectural assessments, gap analyses, and technology evaluations to recommend improvements and modernization opportunities.
5.    Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure solutions are designed for resiliency, performance, efficiency, and supportability.
6.    Provide architectural governance and oversight during solution development, implementation, and transition to operations.
7.    Create detailed design documents, diagrams, and technical specifications supporting platform engineering and implementation work.
8.    Establish technology standards, best practices, and guardrails to ensure secure and compliant deployments across platforms.
9.    Evaluate new technologies, tools, platforms, and vendors, providing guidance on adoption strategies and long-term roadmap impacts.
10.    Support capacity planning, performance engineering, and reliability engineering efforts to ensure architecture scalability and sustainability.
11.    Participate in incident and problem management by contributing root cause analysis and architectural recommendations to prevent recurrence.
12.    Lead architecture reviews, design sessions, and technical workshops with stakeholders across IT and business units.
13.    Guide automation, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code integration throughout architecture designs and engineering processes.
14.    Contribute to disaster recovery, redundancy, and continuity strategies, ensuring architectural alignment with enterprise resilience goals.
15.    Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
16.    Perform other duties as assigned.

Actual pay is determined by job-related factors permitted by law and relevant to the position, such as experience, tenure, market level, pay at the location for this job, performance, schedule, and work assignment. Pay Range: $93,851.00 - $180,195.00 per year

Colorado Pay Ranges: Colorado Springs, Grand Junction $100,421 - $160,674; Henderson, Mead $106,052 - $169,683; Gypsum $112,622 - $180,195

Illinois Pay Ranges: Effingham, Kankakee, Lincoln, Quincy, Rockford, Aurora $100,421 - $160,674; Bolingbrook, Chicago Heights, Des Plaines, Elmhurst, Forest View, Joliet, Schaumburg, Summit-Argo, Zion, Buffalo $112,622 - $180,195

New York Pay Ranges: Plattsburgh, Buffalo, Watertown, North Chili, East Syracuse, Nichols $100,421 - $160,674; Bethpage, Montgomery, West Babylon $112,622 - $180,195

This compensation range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting pay range in NJ. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay is determined by experience relative to the job, market level, specific location and other job-related factors permitted by law. Regular full & part-time employees (who complete 91 days of employment and work a minimum average of 12 hours per week) are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage, tuition reimbursement. Full/part-time employees who are age 21 are eligible for 401(k) after one month of employment.


QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field.
•    Five (5) years’ experience in IT architecture, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or systems design.
•    Strong technical expertise in compute/virtualization, storage, networking, cloud platforms, or data technologies.
•    Demonstrated experience creating architecture diagrams, detailed designs, and technical specifications for complex solutions.
•    Hands-on experience with Linux, Windows, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), containers, and/or infrastructure automation.
•    Working knowledge of security controls, compliance frameworks, and architectural governance practices.
•    Ability to lead technical discussions, drive cross-functional alignment, and influence engineering decisions.
•    Proficiency in performance analysis, capacity considerations, reliability engineering, and system lifecycle planning.
•    Excellent communication and documentation skills with experience presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Additional Details: While this is a remote position, the successful candidate must reside within 50 miles of a FedEx Freight location within the continental U.S.
